AFP International Awards Program
The Charles Stephens Award honors the year’s most outstanding demonstration of leadership, creativity and initiative in building diversity in membership or programming by AFP chapters. The award is designed both to recognize achievement and to promote the sharing of ideas among AFP chapters and nonprofit organizations.
Barbara Marion, ACFRE, was the first woman to chair both AFP and the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy board of directors and provided leadership and service to the association in countless areas. This award, named in her honor, recognizes an AFP member who demonstrates outstanding leadership and service to the association and/or its related entities, such as the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy.
The CARTER Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy honors young people with a proven record of exceptional generosity who demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose philanthropy encourages others to engage on a community, national and/or international level.
This award honors an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles on a community, national and/or international level.
This award honors an outstanding individual fundraising professional who works directly for a nonprofit, charitable organization.
Every year, AFP highlights the work of up to five young professionals under the age of 31 who have already been successful in demonstrating exemplary, creative and innovative work in their careers, as well as a strong commitment to the profession, including engagement with AFP and community and volunteer work.
This award honors an individual or family that demonstrates outstanding skills in coordinating and motivating groups of donors and volunteers for fundraising projects for the benefit of charitable organizations. The recipient must have shown exceptional leadership skills in coordinating groups of donors and volunteers for major fundraising projects for more than one nonprofit organization.
